Beginning on 03/08/42, this series was produced by the United States War Department and transmitted by shortwave to AFRS radio for the fighting troops overseas. All the talent on this series was donated which even included the studio facilities of both CBS and NBC. No other program had such an array of stars, per broadcast, as Command Performance. But the series was only heard overseas, except for one Christmas Eve 1942 broadcast which was carried by all four networks in the U.S. The show lasted until December of 1949. The dates on the following programs are the dates that the recordings were made, not necessarily the date of broadcast. Because of the release dates vs. broadcasts dates over AFRS stations in different parts of the world, we have gone with the recording dates to put this material into some kind of chronological order. When the recording date is not known, we have placed an \"R\" after the date that the program was released and made available for broadcast.
