 Description
This is one of the longest running radio comedies in radio history. Starting 04/26/31 and continuing until 05/15/53. The series also was one of the
rare radio shows to air at different times over each of the national networks. Chester Lauck was heard as Columbus \"Lum\" Edwards, and Norris Goff played
Abner Peabody. They were the owners of the Jot 'Em Down Store in Pine Ridge, Arkansas. They also played and provided the voice for many of the other
characters that were heard on the program over the years. Heard locally over KTHS, Hot Springs, Arkansas from 04/26/31 to 07/05/31 and then moved to the
NBC network from 07/27/31 to 03/30/34. Mutual provided the series to the listeners from 04/02/34 until 08/30/35. They then moved to NBC Blue from 09/02/35
to 02/25/38 and a move to CBS 02/28/38 until 03/29/40. A very short NBC Pacific Network run from 05/26/41 to 09/19/41 and then another move back to Blue
/ ABC from 09/29/41 to 10/02/47. A move back to CBS with format changes began. From 10/06/47 to 09/24/48 they were heard in their 15 minute format.
Then they changed format to the 30 minute length from 10/03/48 until 06/26/49. After a summer break they continued over the CBS network from 11/02/49
until 04/26/50, and then moved back to ABC and back to the 15 minute format from 02/16/53 to 05/15/53. The last the audience heard this series was as
a syndicated recorded broadcast over ABC from 11/09/53 until the last broadcast on 05/07/54.
